Michael Mistretta has accumulated extensive work experience in the field of information technology and healthcare. Michael is currently serving as an Advisory Board Member for CapitalCIO, a peer leadership network for CIOs in the Capital Area. Prior to this role, they held the position of Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer at Virginia Hospital Center since 2015. Before that, they served as the Vice President and Chief Information Officer at Kaweah Delta Healthcare District, where they played a significant role in the development and management of IT, Clinical Engineering, and Medical Records departments. Their past experiences also include working as the VP IS & CIO at MedCentral Health System and as the Director of Application Services at WellSpan Health. Michael has a wealth of expertise in managing IT applications and systems in the healthcare industry. Michael began their career as a Laboratory Technician at Hazleton Laboratories and Gillette Corporation, where they gained experience in medical research and product safety testing. Prior to that, they held various roles at Electronic Data Systems, including the position of Director of Implementation Services.

Michael Mistretta holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from Ashland University, which they obtained from 2009 to 2011. Before that, they completed the System Engineering Development Program at Electronic Data Systems from 1988 to 1989, specializing in Software Development & Delivery and Consulting. Michael also has a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Computer Science from the University of Maryland Global Campus, earned from 1986 to 1988. Prior to their undergraduate studies, Michael attended the United States Military Academy at West Point, where they focused on Computer Sciences and Mechanical Engineering from 1983 to 1986. Alongside their educational background, Michael Mistretta has obtained certifications such as the Certified Healthcare Chief Information Officer (CHCIO) from the College of Health Information Management Executives and the Certified Professional in Health Information Management (CPHIMS) from the Health Information Management Society.
