Alan Grant

Dean of the College of Agriculture & Life Sciences at Virginia Tech

Alan Grant is the current Dean of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Virginia Tech. Alan was previously a Professor and Head of the Department of Animal Sciences at Purdue University from June 1990 to September 2009. Alan is a highly respected figure in the field of agriculture and has been instrumental in developing programs that have had a positive impact on the industry.

Alan Grant's educational career began with him obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science from Cornell University. Alan then went on to Michigan State University to complete their Masters and PhD in Animal Science.

They are on a team with Daniel Givens - Dean of the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine, Julia Ross - Dean of the College of Engineering, and Paul Winistorfer - Dean of the College of Natural Resources and Environment, Council of Deans Representative. Alan Grant reports to Cyril Clarke, Executive Vice President and Provost.
