Sean Black

Sean Black is the current Director of SHEQ at Vital Energi Utilities Limited. Prior to this, they held the position of Head of Quality Health Safety & Environment at Dynniq from September 2014 to January 2017. Dynniq is a European technical services provider delivering total solutions for the traffic and infrastructure markets.

Sean Black has extensive experience in leading and managing a team to deliver operational Quality, Health, Safety and Environment (QHSE) and Info Security. Sean is skilled in Action Planning, trend analysis and risk planning tools to focus and measure improvements. Under their leadership, the QHSE team was restructured and cross-skilled to support business needs while reducing costs by 25%. Additionally, they introduced a “Do It Safe Or Not At All” strategy which heightened the profile and standards of QHSE within the company.

Some of Sean Black’s key achievements include developing and introducing a risk-based approach to the management of QHSE which prioritized resources and targeted significant hazards. This led to a reduction in All Accident Frequency Rates by 20% and Accident Incidence Rates by 60%. Sean also devised, sourced and introduced an Occupational Health Surveillance process as well as an updated skills matrix to support the understanding of employee training needs.

Sean Black has a degree in Mining Engineering from Manchester College of Arts and Technology. Sean also has a certification in Occupational Health and Safety from North Staffs Poly and Nottingham Trent University. Sean is also certified in Professional Development from the CMI Level 7 Senior Leadership Programme and the Executive Mini MBA Accelerator.
