Rebecca Thomas

Sr. Clinical Lab Specialist - SBB (ascp) at Vitalant

Rebecca Thomas has over a decade of experience in the field of clinical laboratory work. Rebecca started their career in 2007 as a DNA Technologist at Memorial Blood Centers. Rebecca then worked as a CLSIV Patient Serologist at the same company from May 2009 to January 2010.

In 2010, Rebecca joined the American Red Cross North Central Blood Services Region as a Medical Technologist, where they worked for almost a decade. Rebecca'sresponsibilities included performing donor and patient tests, interpreting donor-recipient compatibility, and providing reference and consultation services to local hospitals and transfusion services.

In 2018, Rebecca moved to Vitalant, where they worked as a Sr. Clinical Lab Specialist - SBB (ASCP). Rebecca'srole involved various responsibilities, including training new employees, performing patient and donor testing, generating reports, and providing consultation to customers. Rebecca also worked on complex patient red cell serological workups using standard tube methods and donor antigen typing.

Rebecca joined the Board of SCARF (Serum, Cells, and Rare Fluid exchange) in 2019. Rebecca currently holds the position of Serology Consultant at their own company, Rebecca Thomas.

Rebecca Thomas earned their Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from Hamline University, graduating between 1975 and 1979.
