Lillian Pliner MD FACP HMDC FAAHPM has extensive work experience in healthcare, specializing in palliative care and hospice services. Lillian served as the Senior Medical Director at VITAS Healthcare from June 2019 to present, after previously holding the role of Medical Director from July 2016 to June 2019. Before their time at VITAS Healthcare, they founded The Pliner Group LLC in February 2015. Prior to that, they were the Director of Palliative Care Services at East Orange General Hospital starting in November 2013. From September 2015 to May 2016, they served as the Executive Director and Clinical Director at Hospice of New Jersey. Earlier in their career, Dr. Pliner was the Senior Medical Director at Ascend Hospice from January 2007 to August 2015. Lillian began their career as an Associate Professor of Medicine at (UMDNJ)/Rutgers NJ Medical School in July 1986, where they remained until February 2015.

Lillian Pliner MD FACP HMDC FAAHPM received their AB with Honors in Biochemistry from Smith College in 1976. Lillian then went on to receive their Doctor of Medicine (MD) from Stony Brook University in 1980. Following that, they completed an Internal Medicine Internship and Residency at Boston University from 1980 to 1983. Finally, they pursued a Hematology/Oncology Fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center from 1983 to 1986.
