James Ferguson is a Principal Software Engineer at Volta Labs. James has over eight years of experience in the software engineering field. Prior to joining Volta Labs, James was a Senior Software Engineer at EditShare from September 2020 to June 2021. James was also a Principal Software Engineer at Bio-Rad Laboratories from November 2012 to November 2017. While at Bio-Rad Laboratories, James personally created the world’s first software control of a multi-channel microfluidic injection device. James also developed the control system for the flow and interactions of picoliter drops and reagents, a complex plant by multiple superpositioned PID control loops. In addition, they extracted all flow metrics through OpenCV image analysis from monitoring cameras and created an engineering web interface for remote monitor and control, with live table, graph and video displays, and controls, using HTML, Javascript, websockets.

James Ferguson has a BSc in Computer Science from the University of York.

James Ferguson reports to Udayan Umapathi, Co-Founder & CEO. They work with Abdul Mohammed - Associate Director, Genomic Applications, Simran Kaushal - R&D Scientist & Scientific Writer, and Keith Farnsworth - Chief Commercial Officer.
