Mercedes Cary Kulkarni has a diverse work experience spanning across various industries. Mercedes started their career in 2011 as a Store Manager at Claire's Inc. and then transitioned to work as a Graduate Student Assistant at Santa Clara University from 2014 to 2016.

In 2016, they joined Crowdbotics as a Recruiting Operations Manager where they took on a multitude of responsibilities including streamlining and supervising hiring and recruitment processes, onboarding new hires, and managing payroll. Mercedes also contributed to long-term planning and assisted with various tasks such as web spec development, wireframing, and Spanish translation.

Following their time at Crowdbotics, Mercedes joined Front in 2017 as an Associate Recruiter. Mercedes initially worked as a contract Recruiting Coordinator/Sourcer and eventually grew into their role as an Associate Recruiter. During their tenure, they played a pivotal role in expanding the team from approximately 30 to over 100 members across two continents. Mercedes also supported the CEO during Series B fundraising and prioritized providing a positive candidate experience.

In 2019, Mercedes joined Clearbit as a Technical Recruiter. Their responsibilities included full-cycle recruiting with a focus on tech roles and implementing inclusive processes. Mercedes also took on the role of a founding member and organizer of Clearbit's first Employee Resource Group.

Mercedes then moved on to work at Voltaiq in 2020 as a Freelance Recruiter & DEI Advisor. Here, they recruited individuals for roles ranging from engineering leadership to customer success. Additionally, they acted as a DEI advisor, providing guidance to the team's first DEI council (JEDI).

In 2021, Mercedes returned to Change.org where they had previously worked as a Technical Recruiter. This time, they assumed the role of WHOA Lead (Women Helping Others Achieve), a co-lead position for Change.org's largest employee resource group. Mercedes also resumed their responsibilities as a Technical Recruiter, hiring for engineering, product, and design positions across North America.

Most recently, Mercedes joined Voltaiq in 2023 as a Recruitment & People Ops Consultant. It is unclear how long this role lasted as the end date is not provided. However, it can be assumed that they continued to contribute their expertise in recruitment and people operations to the organization.

Mercedes Cary Kulkarni holds a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in Sociology from the Graduate Theological Union / UC Berkeley. Mercedes also holds a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Classical, Ancient Mediterranean and Near Eastern Studies and Archaeology from UC Santa Barbara. In addition to their academic qualifications, Mercedes has obtained a certification in Leading and Motivating People with Different Personalities from LinkedIn in July 2022.
