Ian Flores Siaca

Ian Flores Siaca has diverse work experience in various roles within the technology industry. Their most recent position was as a Senior DevOps Engineer at Voltron Data, where they led innovative FinOps initiatives resulting in significant cost reductions and savings. Additionally, Ian managed a team responsible for on-premise hardware deployment and implemented monitoring solutions.

Prior to that, Ian worked as a Solutions Engineer at Posit PBC, where they enhanced AWS CloudFormation templates and provided technical guidance to clients on environment management, architecture implementation, and product management. Ian successfully deployed enterprise products for numerous clients, focusing on Kubernetes and Python functionality.

Before joining Posit PBC, Ian was a Data Science Education Intern at the same company, where they co-created an open-source data science glossary and conducted research on error identification in data science.

Ian also brings experience as a Data Scientist at Jumping Rivers Ltd, where they automated the creation of virtual machines and deployed data science infrastructure in AWS. Ian developed R packages and web applications to improve systems administration capabilities.

Furthermore, Ian worked as an Information System Consultant at the Instituto de Estadisticas de Puerto Rico, where they developed web applications for data visualization, optimized report generation, and executed a database migration.

In addition, Ian has interned as an Eco-Informatics Intern at the NEON Program, where they developed an application for spatial and temporal visualization of animal populations and researched visualization techniques for non-scientific users.

Overall, Ian has a strong background in DevOps, solution engineering, data science, and information system consulting, with expertise in cloud technologies and open-source software development.

Ian Flores Siaca received a Bachelor's Degree in Integrative Biology from the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras from 2013 to 2018. Ian then pursued a Master of Data Science at The University of British Columbia from 2018 to 2019. Additionally, Ian obtained certifications as a RStudio Tidyverse Certified Trainer from RStudio, Inc. in October 2019 and as a FOCP: FinOps Certified Practitioner from the FinOps Foundation in December 2022.
