The Role

As Field Operations Manager, you will be responsible for coordinating the performance and development of your team whilst ensuring first class service delivery is maintained and a quality service is always delivered.

Projects will vary from new GWA/FWA wireless network builds, technology upgrades, equipment swaps and maintenance programs and the locations are typically in a rural environment with site types consisting of residential, commercial, streetlights, farm buildings, telegraph poles, and third-party infrastructure.

What you will be responsible for

  • Investigation and prompt resolution of network faults that negatively impact the customer experience;
  • Manage, plan and coordinate the Field team’s activities, taking responsibility to make sure that all key project deliverables are met;
  • Own and manage the Programme & Work Schedule, ensuring correct resource is allocated that is suitably skilled to complete the work;
  • Track and ensure that all materials are called off correctly and that the BOQ is accurate in relation to the work planned;
  • Ensure that accurate updates are sourced from site to enable daily/weekly project updates to be issued to the Delivery Managers and PMO;
  • Ensure that technical support for all Field activities gets sourced in a timely manner to ensure the completion of sites on time and within budget;
  • Ensure the Back Office have conducted all the relevant pre-site works checks, ensuring correct RAMs/Permits are in place prior to any work commencing on site;
  • Responsible for ensuring that requirements for equipment, TM, third-party assistance, logistics, cherry pickers etc. are in place, syncing all activities through working closely with the Delivery Managers and Field Team Leaders;
  • Provide support to the Management team by assisting to define the work scope for any external cost tender submissions to clients;
  • Ensure that all Field team staff and specialist contractors are fully briefed with a detail scope of work and that they understand all technical requirements associated with the delivery of services within the projects;
  • Ensure that all designs, work scope and Site Integrations are planned and conducted in accordance with the Business Design Rules, Policies and Procedures;
  • Support PMO/Project/Delivery and Quality Managers across all dependencies to develop a national installation audit process, ensuring compliance of all installation works to agreed standards, specifications, and procedures within Voneus;
  • Engage with customers/suppliers on an ad-hoc basis, to resolve and promote a culture of innovation to overcome installation and build issues;
  • Ensure that all site work is audited by the Team Leader or Lead Engineer before leaving site at the end of the job. Audits to be conducted in accordance with the Voneus QMS and submitted within 24 hours to the office; and,
  • Responsible for ensuring that all equipment is preconfigured and checked/tested prior to site works commencing.

What we are looking for

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in previous UK Telecoms Site Deployment/Delivery Management role;
  • Full driving licence and a willingness to travel as required;
  • Demonstrable knowledge and experience managing Build projects, Rigging, I&C teams or Fibre teams within the telecoms environment;
  • Strong knowledge of Wireless Radio products required to build FWA/GWA networks;
  • Good knowledge of the installation of antennas, CAT5, Fibre, Routers and Power systems within a WISP environment and how to fix them;
  • Good working knowledge and understanding of how to interpret site design guidelines and specifications within the Telecoms industry;
  • Excellent safety culture and sound understanding of CDM Regulations and their application in this role;
  • Good demonstrable interpersonal skills with competency in written and oral communications; and,
  • Proven experience of effective supplier and stakeholder management.
