Michael Schatz

Principal Analyst - Baseball Research & Development at Washington Nationals

Michael Schatz has an extensive work experience in the field of baseball research and analytics. Michael is currently working as the Lead Analyst for Baseball Research and Development at the Washington Nationals since January 2022. Prior to this, they held the position of Lead Data Scientist at the Cincinnati Reds from January 2021 to December 2021 and also served as the Manager of Baseball Analytics from February 2016 to January 2021. Before joining the Reds, Schatz worked as a Baseball Operations Analyst and later as a Baseball Operations and Analytics Intern at the Oakland Athletics from January 2012 to February 2016. Michael has also contributed as a Featured Columnist for Beyond The Box Score from November 2011 to January 2012. Additionally, Schatz founded and authored Peanuts and Cracker Stats from March 2011 to January 2012. Michael gained valuable experience as a Research and Development Intern at Baseball Info Solutions from May 2011 to August 2011. Schatz started their career as a Quantitative Analyst for the Temple University Baseball Team from November 2009 to June 2011. Michael also worked as a Video Scout Intern at Baseball Info Solutions from June 2010 to August 2010 and as a Statistical Information Intern for the Philadelphia 76ers from January 2010 to June 2010.

From 2008 to 2012, Michael Schatz attended Temple University where they obtained a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration with a focus on Economics. During their time at Temple University, their studies included a range of subjects including Business, Economics, and Statistics.
