Senior Policy Analyst - Hygiene at WaterAid

Sophie Hickling has a diverse work experience in the field of water, sanitation, and hygiene. Sophie is currently a Senior Policy Analyst - Hygiene at WaterAid, starting in August 2021. Prior to this, Sophie worked as a Senior Associate at MG Africa Consultants Ltd since November 2016. Sophie also served as a Hygiene and Sanitation Specialist (consultant) at the Water and Sanitation Program, World Bank from February 2011 to January 2016. From August 2007 to January 2011, they worked as a Sanitation and Hygiene Specialist (East and Southern Africa) at UNICEF. Sophie also has experience working with various organizations such as Oxfam, International Rescue Committee, and DFID (UNICEF secondment) in different roles related to public health, capacity building, and project coordination.

Sophie Hickling earned their Master of Science (MSc) degree in Water and Environmental Engineering from the University of Surrey, which they attended from 1996 to 1997. Sophie later pursued a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Public Health in Developing Countries from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, where they studied from 2002 to 2004.
