Paul O’Connell is Managing Director of Waterman Moylan and sits on Waterman Group’s Property Board.
He graduated with a first class honours degree in civil engineering from University College Dublin in 1985 and a Masters degree in structural engineering from Stanford University in 1987. Following an initial two years working for a construction company in the US, he joined London-based specialist ports and harbour consultancy, Peter Fraenkel & Ptrs, in 1988. He completed assignments in Hong Kong and Indonesia before joining John Moylan & Assoc in Ireland in 1992, where he was responsible for design of a large marina at Malahide. In 1993, he rejoined Fraenkel as a Senior Engineer in its Hong Kong office, where he was responsible for a range of civil engineering and infrastructure projects associated with Chek Lap Kok airport and other major public works in the Territory.
In 1998, Paul rejoined Moylan in Dublin, becoming a director in 1999. Moylan became part of Waterman Group in 2000, and Paul became Managing Director in 2001, where he has been responsible for the development of the Group’s Irish business ever since.
Paul is a Chartered Engineer with Engineers Ireland and the Institution of Civil Engineers. He is an ACEI fellow professional consulting Engineer and was an Executive Board member of the ACEI for a number of years, where he played an active role in representing the interests of the profession.
