Job description

About Wayflyer

Our mission is to empower eCommerce stores to unlock their full potential.

Wayflyer is revolutionising eCommerce by levelling the playing field for founders across the world. Our first product, the Merchant Cash Advance, solves a major pain point for brands: access to short-term finance to fund inventory and marketing spend.

Since launching in April 2020, we’ve deployed over $3.0bn in funding to 1,000’s of eCommerce founders across 10 countries.

We’ve helped companies like WildDock & Bay and Branch take their businesses to the next level. Check out this video from Davie Fogherty, another one of our brilliant customers, giving a great explanation of what we do and how we helped The Oodie go from strength to strength.

We’re a fast-growing, venture-backed startup that serves a critical need for eCommerce entrepreneurs. You'll be joining an ambitious, collaborative team that's working on a huge opportunity.

We announced our Series B in February 2022 raising $150m in funding at $1.6bn valuation; backed by world-leading VCs including QED and DST Global.

Teams at Wayflyer are truly cross-functional. Regardless of your role at Wayflyer, you'll work with a variety of different disciplines and teams from around the world on a multitude of challenging projects and game-changing products to revolutionise the eCommerce landscape.

Design at Wayflyer

Starting and growing a brand is brutal and building a great product is just the first step.

Once you launch, you immediately compete at the global level and very few of the existing economic support systems are built for your scale and type of business. You have to go at it alone.

We want to help founders worldwide reach their potential. Today we identify brands ready for growth and back them with cash advances.

Tomorrow we’ll not only identify brands ready for growth but help even more brands reach growth readiness and in addition to backing them financially, we’ll offer a suite of products for sustaining growth so founders feel like they have a team at their back.

That’s where you come in: we’re hiring a diverse set of designers of many disciplines, skills, backgrounds, and specialties to join our growing Research & Design (R&D) team.

As you read this ad, if you think you tick a lot of the boxes, but not all of them, we’d love to hear from you anyway, especially if you’re a woman or were raised in a culture that makes you underplay your achievements.

About the role

We’re looking for a Senior Product Designer to primarily be working on net-new work for Wayflyer, focusing on what the future of our product could look and feel like for our customers in collaboration with other departments (PD, Research, Eng) in the next six months, and after that taking on a wider role within the organisation to continue to drive craft & design excellence.

This means that you would need to be comfortable working in ambiguity, solving problems on the fly, working at significant pace and being able to be utilise exemplary UI skills whilst keeping an eye on how design scales within an organisation and across departments.

You will need to be equally comfortable and passionate about translating users needs into effortless journeys as well as crafting intuitive interfaces and beautiful visualisations of data.

You would be working with a small, focused team with a very high quality bar that would collaborate openly and frequently, so transparent communication and the ability to share & present your work and the reasoning behind it is critical.

We are looking for a designer that cares just as much about how something feels as to how it looks, with both of those playing a critical part in creating a cohesive, high-quality customer experience.

We are looking for a designer that pays attention to the tiny details & appreciates that moments of delight can create a strong affinity between customer & brand, helping to build trust and engagement.

This role would not suit a designer that is used to working on iterative features or smaller parts of an overall experience and is more suited to one that is able and passionate about working across the end to end experience.

Experience in B2C, B2B, or fintech is a plus but not a necessity and we encourage people with either in-house or agency experience to apply.

What you’ll bring

  • A portfolio of great work: You can showcase web or mobile projects where you solved complex design challenges and created user-friendly, delightful experiences. We'd love to see the work you’re most proud of and are particularly keen to see creativity and interactions as the stars.
  • 5+ Years in Product Design: a minimum of 5 years of experience in product design (UX/UI). We are looking for a designer that has a strong technical skillset and is able to use Figma superbly alongside any prototyping, motion tools or code that aids in communicating a users interaction with a product.
  • Collaborative at your core: You have a proven track record of successful collaboration with developers, product managers, and other designers on building products and services with intricate requirements. You share early and often, and involve the right people at the right times.
  • Strategic Design Thinking: You bring together product sense, design thinking, and pragmatism to identify the most efficient path toward the desired outcomes.
  • A visual eye: You possess a strong sense of visual design, with an eye for layout, visual impact, motion on a page, color, typography, and iconography.
  • Open to Diverse Perspectives: You have strong opinions, loosely held. You present your ideas clearly and concisely while welcoming constructive feedback, and are open to and value a variety of viewpoints backed by data and experience.
  • Self-Starter: You're an entrepreneurial and resourceful individual who takes initiative to contribute to team and company goals without needing constant direction.

What happens next:

We’ll review every application we receive. If we’re interested in taking your application further, we will be in touch to find out more about you and what you’re looking for.

Unfortunately we can’t reply to everyone or provide individual feedback but we will keep your work in mind for future opportunities.
