Job Responsibilities

  • Cost Estimation: Analyze project plans, specifications, and related documents to develop comprehensive and precise cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and other project-related expenses.

  • Site Visits: Conduct on-site visits to assess project scope, potential challenges, and other factors that could impact cost estimates. Gather accurate information for more informed estimations.

  • Supplier/Subcontractor Collaboration: Collaborate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain quotes and pricing for materials and services, ensuring up-to-date market rates are used in cost calculations.

  • Bid Preparation: Prepare and assemble bid proposals, incorporating detailed breakdowns of costs, projected timelines, and other pertinent information to create competitive bids aligned with project goals.

  • Data Analysis: Utilize historical project data, industry benchmarks, and market trends to enhance the accuracy of cost estimates and to identify potential cost-saving opportunities.

  • Communication: Maintain effective communication with project stakeholders, including project managers, architects, engineers, and subcontractors, to address inquiries, provide clarifications, and ensure seamless project coordination.

  • Budget Management: Assist in the development and management of project budgets, providing input on cost-related matters throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Continuous Learning: Stay current with industry advancements, construction techniques, and new materials to ensure the application of the latest knowledge in estimating practices.

  • Risk Assessment: Identify and analyze potential risks that could impact project costs, providing recommendations to mitigate these risks during the estimation process.

  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and organized records of cost estimates, bid documentation, and related correspondence.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).

  • Proven experience as a Construction Estimator, demonstrating a track record of accurate and competitive cost estimates.

  • Proficiency in using construction estimating software and tools.

  • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and industry standards.

  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across various teams.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Problem-solving skills to identify cost-effective solutions.
