Georgina Mackenzie

Research Lead, Directed Activity at Wellcome Trust

Georgina MacKenzie is an accomplished researcher with extensive experience in neuroscience and mental health. Currently serving as Research Lead for Discovery Research at Wellcome Trust since January 2016, Georgina has held various roles including Senior Research Manager and Portfolio Manager for the Cellular and Molecular Neuroscience research portfolio. Additionally, Georgina undertook a secondment as Flagship Developer to assist in developing the Wellcome Innovations Psychosis Flagship. Prior experience includes a postdoctoral fellowship at Pfizer focusing on pain treatment using stem cell technologies and optogenetic tools, as well as a postdoctoral role at Tufts University studying stress-exacerbated epilepsy. Georgina obtained a PhD in Neuroscience from Imperial College London, where earlier studies encompassed both a Master's degree in Biochemical Research and a Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry from the University of Bath.
