Jesse McCool

Jesse McCool has a diverse work experience spanning several industries. In 1994, they worked as an Environmental Chemist at Clean Harbors. From 2003 to 2006, they served as a Postdoctoral R&D Scientist at Dartmouth College. In 2005, they worked briefly as a Biotech Consultant for Private Equity. From 2006 to 2008, they worked as a Scientist at Mascoma LLC.

Moving forward, Jesse joined Lonza in 2008 and held various roles including Process Development Scientist, Associate Director of Purification Development and AD of Strain Development, and Director of Process Development. They then joined Cytovance Biologics in 2013 and held roles such as Vice President of Microbial Services, Sr. Vice President of R&D Services, Chief Technology Officer, and Chief Executive Officer.

In 2020, Jesse co-founded Wheeler Bio and currently serves as the Co-Founder and CEO. They are also a Member of the Board of Advisors at Boyd Street Ventures since 2021. Additionally, they serve as a Board Member on the Governor's Council for Workforce and Economic Development at the Oklahoma Department of Commerce since 2021. Throughout their career, Jesse has demonstrated expertise in biomanufacturing, R&D, process development, and innovation.

Jesse McCool earned a Ph.D. in Microbiology from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where they studied until 2003. In 2008, Jesse attended the Delft University of Technology to complete an Advanced Course in Microbial Physiology and Fermentation Technology.
