David Kisailus is the Henry Samueli Faculty Excellence Professor and Kavli Fellow of the National Academy of Sciences at the University of California, Irvine, where David has been since March 2020. In addition, David serves as a professor and the Winston Chung Endowed Chair in Energy Innovation at the University of California, Riverside, a position held since February 2013. David's research focuses on biomimetics and bio-inspired materials for energy conversion and storage, including the synthesis and analysis of nanomaterials. Previous experience includes roles as a research scientist at HRL Laboratories, post-doctoral researcher at UCSB, and various academic positions. David holds a PhD in Materials Science and Engineering from UC Santa Barbara and advanced degrees in the same field from the University of Florida, as well as a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Drexel University.
