Alexandr Samocha

Principal Scientist at Wildtype

Alexandr Samocha, Ph.D. has a wealth of experience in the field of research. In 2007, they began as a Laboratory Research Assistant at Washington University in St. Louis, exploring the role of the transcription factor NFkB in the pathogenesis of sepsis. Alexandr published as an author on this project, as well as other projects they assisted with in the lab, and won several awards for presenting their work as a poster and oral talk at a scientific conference. In 2008, they moved on to the University of Pennsylvania as a Laboratory Research Associate, exploring the expression of hepatic glucocorticoid receptor isoform expression in murine models of sepsis. At UCSF from 2012-2018, they served as a Graduate Student, exploring the role of the signaling protein RasGRP1 in mammary gland development and a Teaching Assistant, leading histology laboratory for dental students. In 2019, they joined Wildtype as a Scientist I, eventually working their way up to Senior Scientist and Group Lead. At UCSF Medical Center in 2018, they served as a Postdoctoral Researcher, studying the role for RasGEFs in mammary organogenesis and human breast cancer.

Alexandr Samocha, Ph.D. received their Bachelor's Degree in Molecular Biology from the University of Pennsylvania between 2008 and 2012. Alexandr then went on to pursue their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Biomedical Sciences at the University of California, San Francisco from 2012 to 2018.
