Construction Materials Testing Department Manager

Job Description:

We are currently seeking a well-qualified individual with the necessary skills to fill the role of Construction Materials Testing Department Manager within the firm. The role includes generating new business, managing client relationships, and directing field staff. A successful candidate must understand how to run a team and grow department revenue.

Major Daily Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Meeting department fees & profit goals through a myriad of management strategies
  • Manage field staff
  • Manage projects and contractor relationships
  • Review field reports, concrete break reports
  • Understand and interpret technical manuals
  • Train field staff in all necessary certifications for job site inspections
  • Maintain AASHTO accreditation with ≥ 4 or 5 CCRL test results
  • Track record of providing “leadership by example”

New Business Development Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Set billable hour targets and new client revenue goals for the department
  • Client maintenance
  • Develop new client business
  • Oversee report writing for department
  • Participate in annual strategic planning initiatives
  • Generate significant new business for the department

Qualifications:

  • B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering or Senior Engineering Technician with ICC Certifications
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a manager of a Construction Services Department
  • Experience with AASHTO accreditation test program
  • Proficient knowledge of ASTM, AASHTO, ACI test procedures
  • Proven ability to train technicians for certifications
  • Quick learner, hard worker, persistent, energetic, able to get along well with others
  • Good organizational skills
  • Superior client services attitude
  • Excellent communication skills

Salary:
