Daniel Bauer

Daniel Bauer has been working in the field of Computer Science since 2006. In 2006 and 2007, they were a Teaching Assistant at the Universität Osnabrück. In 2008, they were a Teaching Assistant and Student/Research Assistant at the Universität des Saarlandes. From 2009 to 2012, they were a Student Research Assistant at the Cluster of Excellence MMCI, Saarland University. In 2012 and 2013, they were a Visiting Research Assistant at the Information Sciences Institute. In 2013, they were Co-Founder, Board Member, and VP Engineering & Research at WordsEye. Since 2014, they have been a Lecturer in Computer Science at Columbia University in the City of New York. During their time at Columbia, they have taught a variety of courses such as Natural Language Processing, Honors Data Structures, Introduction to Computing for Engineers and Applied Scientists, Artificial Intelligence, and Introduction to Computing and Programming in Python. Daniel has also served as a Preceptor.

Daniel Bauer completed a BSc in Cognitive Science at Universität Osnabrück from 2004 to 2007. Daniel then attended the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in 2006, studying Computer Science and Linguistics. In 2007, they obtained an M.Sc. in Language Science and Technology from the Universität des Saarlandes. From 2010 to 2017, they earned a PhD in Computer Science from Columbia University.
