Sandra Aragon Aviles (She/her)

R&D and PV Engineer at Worksport

Sandra Aragon Aviles has a wide range of work experience. Sandra has held positions at Worksport (Nasdaq: $WKSP) since 2021, where she is currently an R&D and PV Engineer. Prior to this, she was an R&D Engineer, R&D Junior Engineer and a MITACS-Accelerate Research Intern. From 2019 to 2021, she was a Graduate Research and Teaching Assistant at Ontario Tech University, where she designed, simulated and developed a system to melt the snow in winter on solar panels, developed a literature review on power electronics-based solutions to interface solar-photovoltaics (PV), smart grid, and electrified transportation, and lead individual and group lessons for undergraduate students. From 2018 to 2019, she was a Graduate Research Assistant at Universidad de Los Andes, where she identified the types of services and benefits that ESS can bring to the medium voltage (MV) distribution system of CODENSA, defined a set of technologies that can provide these services to the network, and evaluated the technical benefits and financial viability of the energy storage system. From 2017 to 2018, she was a Teacher at Secretaria de Educacion del Distrito, where she provided educational multidisciplinary training programs in public schools in Bogota, Colombia, improved the academic performance of the students, and designed curricular programs and prepared didactic material for teaching. From 2013 to 2017, she was an Instructor of Electricity and Electronics at SENA, where she provided training programs in technical maintenance of electronic systems as well as in the design and development of solar energy systems, designed and developed research projects based on renewable energy, and highly developed project planning skills gained through the design and development of projects using renewable energies such as solar energy or hydropower to improve production processes in rural areas. Finally, from 2011 to 2013, she was a Research Assistant at UNESP - Universidade Estadual Paulista "Júlio de Mesquita Filho", where she researched and developed in the area of renewable energies, designed sustainable projects for rural areas using renewable energies (mainly solar energy), and participated in a scientific congress as a keynote speaker.

Sandra Aragon Aviles has three distinct educational experiences. Sandra began their studies in 2007 at Universidad de Ibagué, where she earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Electronics Engineering in 2012. In 2019, she enrolled at Universidad de Los Andes, to pursue a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering. Then, she decided to continue her Master's in Canada. Sandra enrolled at Ontario Tech University, where she pursued a Master of Applied Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering, which completed in 2022.
