Urmila Chanam is an experienced professional serving as the Director of Breaking the Silence Worldwide Foundation since March 2017, focusing on menstrual hygiene management, women's empowerment, and public health improvements in remote communities. With a background in journalism, Urmila has independently contributed articles and blogs on gender, indigenous issues, and public health. As an Ambassador for World Pulse, Urmila advocates for digital literacy and inclusion for women globally. Additionally, Urmila has held various consultancy roles, including facilitating menstrual hygiene management programs with UNOPS and managing knowledge systems in public health with FHI 360 and Karnataka Health Promotion Trust. Urmila’s academic qualifications include a Master of Science in Anthropology and multiple trainings in gender, digital empowerment, and knowledge management.
