Weixing Zhang has a diverse work experience in the field of research and software engineering. In 2014, they worked as a Research Assistant at UConn College of Agriculture, Health and Natural Resources. In 2017, they participated in the UCGIS Summer School on High Performance Computing. Weixing then joined the University of Connecticut as a Graduate Assistant and later as a Census & Geospatial Data Specialist. In 2018, Weixing worked as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Eversource Energy, where they developed deep learning-based workflows for ice-wedge polygons extraction. Weixing also served as a Research Associate at the Connecticut Transportation Institute- UConn, leading the development of a transportation asset management system. Recently, Weixing joined Woven by Toyota as a Software Engineer in 2022. Additionally, they worked as a Research Associate at Harvard University, where they developed COVID-19 trackers for US Congressional Districts.

Weixing Zhang earned their Bachelor's Degree in Land Resource Management from China University of Geosciences in 2008-2012. Weixing then pursued higher education and completed their Master's Degree in Geography from the University of Connecticut in 2013-2015. Building on their academic achievements, Weixing Zhang further continued their education at the University of Connecticut and earned a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Geography from 2015 to 2018. Currently, they are enrolled at Georgia Institute of Technology, where they are expected to complete their Master's degree in Computer Science from 2021 to 2026.
