Juan Rubio

Juan Rubio has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning over two decades. Juan is currently working as a Principal Software Engineer at WP Engine since May 2020. Prior to that, they served as a Senior Cloud Architect and Lead Release Engineer at State Street from October 2017 to November 2019. In this role, they played a crucial part in architecting enterprise cloud infrastructure systems and led the Deploy Team responsible for implementing DevOps policies, release processes, and maintaining infrastructure-as-code.

Before joining State Street, Juan worked at IBM for several years in various roles. As a Research Staff Member in the Cloud Infrastructures division from October 2014 to September 2017, they developed a highly available control plane for provisioning and configuring virtual machines. As a member of the Data Systems division from November 2012 to October 2014, they designed a high-performance data store called the IBM Data Engine for NoSQL. Additionally, they also worked as a Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Texas at Austin from September 1999 to May 2004, focusing on the execution phases of server workloads.

During their early career, Juan worked as a Summer Intern at IBM in 2000 and 1999, where they gained experience in software profiling and simulation. Juan also served as a Web Developer at Boot Studio Corp. from February 1996 to July 1997.
