Todd Sieland-Peterson

Todd Sieland-Peterson has a diverse work experience spanning from 1996 to 2017. Todd started their career as a Programmer Analyst at Gurus Inc. in 1996. Todd then worked as a Designer/Programmer Contractor at BellSouth, where they contributed to the design and development of their first customer interactive website. Todd also worked at IBM as a Designer/Programmer Contractor, developing Java software for Hertz, Cingular, and other smaller companies.

In 2006, Todd joined Commerce Science, Inc. as the VP of Technology, where they provided design, analysis, coding, and debugging for their core platform, eStoreXpress. Todd worked on various aspects of eStoreXpress, including order management, inventory cataloging, reseller and vendor management, credit card processing, and shipping calculations.

Todd then transitioned to TST in 2014, where they worked as a Senior Scala Developer. Todd focused on interacting with 3rd party systems using XML, SOAP, and flat files, as well as processing hotel change messages and handling bulk loads of hotel data using Scala and AKKA.

In 2016, Todd joined LifeWay Christian Resources as a Senior Scala Developer. Here, they worked on an enterprise order processing system, utilizing Scala, Java 8, AKKA Sharding, Spring Boot, MongoDB, Kafka, CQRS, and Web Services.

Before their current position, Todd worked at Manheim in 2014 as a Developer, helping to create a REST interface system for auto auctions using Java, Ruby, and Cassandra for the database.

Currently, Todd holds the position of Lead Engineer at Starbucks, which they have been doing since October 2017.

Todd Sieland-Peterson obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Computer Science from Southern Polytechnic State University from 1983 to 1988. Todd also holds additional certifications, including Principles of Reactive Programming and Functional Programming Principles in Scala from Coursera, and AWS Certified Developer - Associate from Amazon Web Services (AWS) in 2020.
