Priyal Walpita

Priyal Walpita has a diverse work experience spanning various roles in the technology industry. Priyal is currently serving as the Chief Technology Officer at Xyicon, starting in April 2023. Prior to this, they worked as a Visiting Lecturer at the University of Colombo School of Computing since May 2018.

From July 2019 to April 2023, Priyal served as the Chief Technology Officer at ZorroSign, Inc., where they played a significant role in the development of their eSignature platform utilizing blockchain security, automation, AI ML, and 4n6 technology.

Before joining ZorroSign, Priyal worked as the Chief Software Architect at HaulMatic Technologies from January 2019 to June 2019. Priyal also held the position of Principal Architect at DP Technologies (Pvt) Ltd from August 2017 to December 2018, where they focused on designing and architecting highly classified military-grade security solutions.

Additionally, Priyal has experience as an Architect - Technology at Virtusa from January to August 2017, where they were involved in designing an enterprise billing system for a telecommunications provider. Priyal also worked as a Lead Consultant at CSG International from August 2016 to January 2017, providing consultation for designing and architecting .Net technology-based telecom billing systems.

Prior to these roles, Priyal also served as a Senior Consultant - Technology at Virtusa from July 2014 to July 2016, where they worked on developing change requests for a telecommunications product and had foreign assignments in Singapore. Before joining Virtusa, they worked at Zone24x7 as an Associate Technical Project Manager from April 2013 to July 2014, fulfilling the role of a Technical Project Manager/Architect and leading a software team.

Furthermore, Priyal worked as a Software Engineer at Zone24x7 from October 2008 to April 2011, contributing to the development of a SaaS-based Web POS system. Priyal also had experience as a Software Engineer at IFS RnD International from August 2007 to October 2008, where they worked on developing the beta version of .Net IFS applications for various clients and had a foreign assignment in Asker, Norway.

Priyal Walpita has a diverse education history. In 2001, they enrolled at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura and completed a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Physical Sciences in 2004. Following this, from 2001 to 2005, Priyal attended Staffordshire University, where they obtained a BSc (Hons) degree in Computing.

In 2015, Priyal enrolled at the University of Colombo and pursued a Master of Science (MIS) degree in Information Security, specializing in Computer and Information Systems Security/Information Assurance. Priyal completed this program in 2016.

In terms of additional certifications, Priyal has obtained various qualifications. In December 2019, they completed the course "Introduction to TensorFlow for Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Deep Learning" offered by deeplearning.ai. Additionally, in December 2019, they also completed the "Convolutional Neural Networks in TensorFlow" course from the same institution.

Moreover, Priyal possesses numerous certifications related to blockchain and decentralized finance. In 2022, they completed the courses "Blockchain Basics" and "Smart Contracts" offered by The State University of New York. Priyal also obtained certifications in "Blockchain Scalability and its Foundations in Distributed Systems" from The University of Sydney Business School and "Decentralized Finance (DeFi) Primitives" and "Decentralized Finance (DeFi) Infrastructure" from Duke University, all in 2022.

Additionally, Priyal has obtained certifications in software design and architecture. In 2020, they completed the "Design Patterns," "Object-Oriented Design," "Service-Oriented Architecture," "Software Architecture," and "Software Design and Architecture Specialization" courses offered by the University of Alberta.

In more recent years, Priyal has focused on artificial intelligence and machine learning. In December 2022, they completed the courses "Artificial Intelligence Algorithms Models and Limitations" and "Metaverse" offered by Coursera.

Furthermore, in January 2023, Priyal obtained the certification "Artificial Intelligence Data Fairness and Bias" from Coursera.
