Jorge Leal Garrett

Jorge Leal Garrett is currently the Senior Corporate Counsel at Yelp. Jorge has previously served as the Senior Corporate Counsel at Hill+Knowlton Strategies from August 2013 to December 2019 and as an Associate Attorney at Mullin Hoard & Brown, LLP from December 2011 to August 2013.

Garrett has experience counseling corporate clients on a wide range of matters, including corporate governance, commercial transactions, labor and employment, and regulatory compliance. Jorge has also served as outside general counsel to a number of start-ups and mid-sized companies, providing guidance on entity formation documents, intellectual property rights, software licensing, stockholder agreements, stock and equity compensation plans, and other day-to-day commercial matters.

In addition, Garrett has represented clients in commercial litigation, drafting pleadings, preparing and responding to discovery, taking depositions, handling motion practice, and appearing at hearings. Jorge also served as lead associate to the FDIC in its capacity as receiver in a prevailing multi-million dollar lawsuit brought against two national appraisal management companies arising out of a failure of a major national bank. Finally, Garrett served as lead associate in a two-week commercial arbitration dispute involving software trade secret claims of more than $10 million.

Jorge Leal Garrett has a Juris Doctor with Certificate in Business Law from Texas Tech University School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts - BA in Government with Certificate in Business Foundations from The University of Texas at Austin. Jorge also has certification from the State Bar of California in State Bar of California Registered In-House Counsel, Scotwork in Scotwork Advanced Negotiation Skills Certificate, State Bar of Texas in State Bar of Texas, November 2009, Texas Tech University School of Law in Certificate in Business Law, and The University of Texas at Austin in Certificate in Business Foundations.
