David Deal has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. David currently holds the role of Director of Platform at The Linux Foundation, where they lead and manages platform-related initiatives. Prior to this, they served as a Senior Engineering Manager, playing a key role in developing and managing the LFX Security and LFX EasyCLA products and services. David also worked as a Principal Software Engineer, focusing on building and supporting the LF Community Bridge core platform services using Golang and Python backends.

Before joining The Linux Foundation, David worked at Rackspace, the #1 managed cloud company. There, they held the position of Software Developer IV, contributing to open source Jenkins plugin development and improving build processes. David also served as a Platform Engineer on the Logging, Eventing, and Metrics (LME) team, responsible for designing, implementing, and managing a rapid prototype management system.

Prior to Rackspace, David worked as a Platform Engineer at Datapipe, where they contributed to platform development. David also served as a Software Engineer at Leidos, developing cloud-based solutions for the Health Care market using technologies like Hadoop, Spark, and Elasticsearch.

David began their career at Lockheed Martin, where they held the position of Senior Software Engineer Staff. Here, they developed a cloud-based Genome Sequencing pipeline and a collection of secure genome services. David leveraged AWS and Rackspace to deploy a large Hadoop cluster and implemented a variety of technologies to process genomic alignment and assembly algorithms.

David's early experiences include roles at ORINCON and Titan Corporation, where they worked as a Software Engineer. At ORINCON, they led the development and integration of services, algorithms, and workflow modules for the Predictive Analysis for Naval Deployment Activities project. At Titan Corporation, they played a key role in creating a Linux-based data acquisition system for monitoring rocket plumes.

Overall, David Deal has a strong background in software engineering, open-source development, and cloud computing. David has contributed to various projects and platforms, demonstrating their expertise in designing, developing, and managing complex systems.

David Deal earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Information Science from Coleman College, where they studied from 1994 to 1998. Additionally, they obtained a Certificate in Systems Engineering from The George Washington University, completing the program from 2006 to 2008.
