Sam Xiao

Sam Xiao is the VP of Engineering at Yuansfer. Sam has over eight years of experience in the tech industry, with a focus on software engineering and devops. Sam has worked for companies such as Uber, Lookout Mobile Security, and Cardless.

At Uber, Sam worked on the development of the mobile infrastructure and later on the Finance Intelligence Engineering team. Sam was responsible for designing and implementing the AWS S3 high availability/backup/disaster recovery strategy for all internal developer services. Sam also played a lead role in recruiting new engineers and conducting technical interviews.

At Lookout Mobile Security, Sam was a software engineer on the Platform / Infrastructure / Release / DevOps team. Sam implemented AWS EC2 autoscaling computing into Continuous Integration deployment for Build and Release, and they also designed and implemented the ‘stateless’ computing node for AWS EC2 autoscaling. In addition, they led the rollout of an artifacts server and updated builds, release, and automation tools to use the server by interacting with the RESTful API.

At Cardless, Sam is responsible for building for loyal fans and sport clubs. Sam is experienced in using technologies such as Git, Ruby, RSpec, JSON, Sinatra, Grape, Chef, Puppet, Redis, JIRA API, Jenkins API, AWS ecosystem, and RESTful technologies.

Sam Xiao completed a Bachelor of Computing in Computer Science from the University of Guelph. They then went on to complete a Master's degree in Computer Science from Ryerson University.
