Calvin Chu

Calvin Chu has a diverse work experience spanning various industries and roles. Calvin started their career in 2014 as a Retail Management Intern at Chia Tai Group, where they gained experience in customer service, cashier services, and promotional advertising. In 2015, they interned as a Business Development Intern at Saraburi Sugar Co. Ltd., where they researched and analyzed logistical and financial processes of contract industrial farming.

In 2017, Calvin worked as a Business Development Intern at Cotactic Media Co., Ltd., where they gained experience in digital marketing, web design, UI/UX design, and product consultation. Calvin created UX/UI wireframes for clients using Adobe Experience Beta.

From 2018 to 2019, Calvin served as a Community Manager at Blockchain@UBC, managing the research cluster's communication channels and coordinating updates between academic researchers, community members, and industry partners. Calvin also assisted in migrating and redesigning the website.

In 2018, Calvin co-founded Volantt Marketing and operated the company until 2019.

In 2018, they also worked as a Business Development Intern at True Corporation, supporting the workflow processes and responsibilities of the Strategy and Business Intelligence Department.

From 2020 to 2021, Calvin worked as an Associate Product Manager at OxygenAI, gaining experience in product management.

In 2020, they also worked as a Data Analyst at Saraburi Sugar Co. Ltd., where they researched and worked with operational and IT departments on an agricultural satellite remote sensing project.

From 2021 to 2022, Calvin worked as a Product Manager at UrOwn Adventures, where they directed roadmap planning, development of core product features, and agile methodologies. Calvin also served as a scrum master and product owner to execute sprints according to the refined backlog.

Currently, Calvin works as a Product Manager at Zaapi, starting in 2022.

Calvin Chu holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Accounting from The University of British Columbia. In 2019, they attended BrainStation to pursue studies in Data Science. In terms of additional certifications, Calvin obtained the following: Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) from Scrum Alliance in April 2022, Product Management from BrainStation in November 2020, Rescue Diver from PADI in September 2020, and Python for Data Science: Fundamentals from Dataquest.io in April 2020.
