Jochem Hummelen

Jochem Hummelen has a background in law and extensive experience in various legal roles. Jochem currently holds the position of Legal Director & Company Secretary at Zivver since 2022. Prior to that, they worked at NautaDutilh from 2016 to 2022, where they were a Lawyer and Senior Associate in the Dispute Resolution department. Jochem also managed the NautaDutilh Litigation & Arbitration Desk at their New York office from 2019 to 2019. Before joining NautaDutilh, Jochem worked as a Lawyer at Houthoff Buruma from 2010 to 2016.

In addition to their professional experience, Jochem also has a strong academic background. Jochem obtained a PhD from Rijksuniversiteit Groningen, where their research focused on the efficiency assessment of Dutch bankruptcy law. During their studies, they completed internships at the U.S. Bankruptcy Court and De Brauw Blackstone Westbroek, gaining valuable practical experience. Jochem also had a short-term internship at Stibbe, where they primarily worked on matters related to general property law and bankruptcy law.

Jochem Hummelen's education history begins in 2007 when they obtained a D.E.L.E. Inicial (level B1) in the Spanish language from Colegio Delibes. From 2004 to 2010, Hummelen attended the University of Groningen, where they obtained a LL.B. in 2007 and a LL.M. (cum laude) in 2010, both specializing in Dutch civil law. After completing their undergraduate studies, Hummelen pursued a Doctor of Philosophy - PhD at the University of Groningen from 2010 to 2015, with a focus on Dutch Law. In 2018, they attended CPO and pursued the INSOLAD/Grotius - track Insolvency Law, though their field of study was not specified.
