Benjamin Skurek

Senior Software Safety Engineer at A-P-T Research

Benjamin Skurek has a long and varied work history. In 2012, they began their career with the Army National Guard as a Flight Operations Specialist, where they were responsible for flight logs, aircraft records and dispatch, communications, mission management and operations. In 2014, they joined Northrop Grumman as a Field System Test Engineer, where they conducted technical analysis of an unmanned platform's flight, mission, and operational data in the field. In 2015, they became a System Test Engineer at Northrop Grumman, where they worked in a Software Lab supporting testing and troubleshooting the origin of technical issues encountered for various unmanned platforms. In 2016, they took on an internship with Northrop Grumman as a Scheduling Intern. In 2017, they returned to Northrop Grumman as a System Safety Engineer and Program Cost Control Analyst, where they reviewed product systems, associated support equipment and facilities, functional specifications and operations, and established safety requirements for assigned systems. Benjamin also managed and ensured EVMS compliance on over 10 million dollars worth of technical work scope. In 2022, they joined APT (A-P-T Research, Inc.) as a Senior Software Safety Engineer.

Benjamin Skurek obtained their Eagle Scout certification from the Boy Scouts of America in 2009. Benjamin went on to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Aeronautics/Aviation/Aerospace Science and Technology, General from the University of North Dakota from 2012 to 2017. During this time, they also obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration in Aviation/Airway Management and Operations from the same university. In 2019, they obtained their Commerical Operator License (GROL) from the Federal Communications Commission. Benjamin is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Aeronautics/Aviation/Aerospace Science and Technology, General at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, which they are expected to complete in 2023.
