David York

Head of Mobile Engineering at Academia.edu

David York has a long and varied work experience. David began their career in 1996 as a Lab Assistant and Documentation Lead at the University of Washington. In 2002, they were hired as an Engineer at Microsoft. In 2004, they founded Steady Designs LLC, a company that developed casual and semi-casual games for Mac and PC web download. From 2007 to 2010, they worked as an Engineer at Microsoft's Portable Entertainment Group, and as a consultant at Expedia. In 2010, they co-founded Participant Finder, Inc., and then joined ROBLOX as Lead Engineer (iOS & Mobile) in 2011. In 2013, they took a Senior Software Engineer position at Linden Lab, and in 2015 they became an Independent Consultant. Finally, in 2018 they were appointed Head of Mobile Engineering at Academia.edu, where they manage the iOS team, Android team, and mobile QA, and is also responsible for product direction.

David York received their Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the University of Washington in 2000, after having attended the school from 1995 to 2000. David then went on to attend Western Washington University, where they earned a Bachelor's Science with Departmental Honors in Computer Science between 2000 and 2002.
