Shawn Eisenberg

VP, CMC Biologics at ACELYRIN

Shawn Eisenberg, Ph.D. has extensive work experience in the pharmaceutical industry. Shawn currently holds the position of VP CMC Biologics at Acelyrin, Inc. since April 2022. Prior to that, they worked at Takeda from May 2020 to April 2022, where they served as Lead Divestments & CMB.

Dr. Eisenberg also worked at ImmunoGen, Inc. from June 2018 to April 2020 in various roles. As Executive Director, Manufacturing & Supply Chain, from March 2019 to April 2020, they oversaw demand/supply scenario analyses and maintained flexibility in the face of a company-wide reorganization. Shawn also served as Senior Director, Manufacturing & Supply Chain from November 2018 to March 2019, where they merged the External Manufacturing and Supply Chain organizations and reset expectations around contractual forecasting terms. From June 2018 to November 2018, they held the position of Senior Director, External Manufacturing, where they successfully established an External Manufacturing and Central Testing Laboratory organization.

At Shire, from June 2016 to November 2017, Dr. Eisenberg held the position of Head of Drug Product and Packaging Supplier Relationship and Manufacturing. Shawn managed 17 commercial products across 15 CMOs and provided support for a key oncology product launch.

Before that, they worked at Baxalta from March 2014 to June 2016 as the Head of Small Molecule External Manufacturing. In this role, they built and led a global network of CMOs and partner suppliers.

Dr. Eisenberg's earlier work experience includes roles at Amgen, where they worked from September 1997 to March 2014. Shawn served as Director, Global Operations Planning from August 2008 to March 2014, leading cross-functional commercialization activities and participating in Product Strategy Teams. From March 2006 to August 2008, they were responsible for establishing global supplier relationships as Senior Manager of Amgen Contract Manufacturing Operations. Prior to that, they held the position of Project Manager 2, Amgen Contract Manufacturing Operations, from January 2004 to March 2006. Shawn also worked as a Research Scientist II in Amgen's Small Molecule Process Chemistry division from March 2002 to January 2004, and as a Research Scientist in Small Molecule Process Development from September 1997 to March 2002. In these roles, they led various projects and teams focused on process development and managed tech transfers to CMOs.

Shawn Eisenberg, Ph.D. received a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Sonoma State University from 1986 to 1991. Following this, they pursued a Ph.D. at the University of California, Davis, focusing on Synthetic Organic and Computational Chemistry from 1991 to 1996. After obtaining their Ph.D., they engaged in Postdoctoral Studies in Synthetic Organic Chemistry at The Ohio State University from 1996 to 1997.
