Alice Clapman is a Senior Counsel at the ACLU since June 2025, focusing on the protection of abortion and reproductive rights through litigation in various courts. Previously, from October 2022 to May 2025, Clapman served as Senior Counsel for the Voting Rights Team at the Brennan Center for Justice, engaging in policy advocacy and litigation to safeguard voting rights. From May 2012 to October 2022, Clapman was a Senior Counsel at Planned Parenthood Federation of America, where efforts also centered on defending abortion and healthcare rights. Additional roles include Visiting Professor at the University of Baltimore School of Law, Teaching Fellow at Georgetown Law, and Consultant for the Open Society Institute. Clapman's earlier career involved serving as a Fellow in the ACLU's Immigrants' Rights Project, as well as judicial law clerk positions with Hon. Chester J. Straub and Hon. Naomi Reice Buchwald. Clapman holds a JD from Yale Law School and a Bachelor's degree in Philosophy from Princeton University.
