Jonathan Burley, PhD

Jonathan Burley, PhD has an extensive work experience in the fields of data science and consulting. Jonathan started their career in 2006 with part-time work during school/university. In 2010, they completed an internship at OC&C Strategy Consultants, followed by a role as an Associate Consultant and later a Consultant in 2012. In the same year, they also worked as a Parliamentary Intern for Dr Julian Huppert MP at the House of Commons. In 2013, they completed their PhD in Computational Simulations of Volcanism and Glacial Cycles at the University of Oxford. In 2018, they were a Visiting Research Fellow at the University of Oxford and an Honorarium Scholar at Harvard University. In 2019, they became a Lead Data Scientist and Senior Data Scientist at Foundry.ai. In 2020, they became the Head of Data Science and Cofounder at Actifai, a Foundry.ai portfolio company, where they coded the original model that became a multi-million ARR product with 12 DS+SE staff. Jonathan is also responsible for their AI & ML products, model design, research, and long-term strategy, and is part of senior leadership designing the long-term vision for Actifai.

Jonathan Burley, PhD began their educational career in 2007 when they attended the University of Cambridge and obtained a MSci Physics and BA Natural Sciences in 2011. Jonathan then pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Geophysics at the University of Oxford, which they completed in 2017. Additionally, Jonathan is a Program Graduate of The Data Incubator.
