In 2011, Zahra joined Magna Publishing Co. Ltd. as a correspondent and health reporter for Health and Nutrition Magazine. Their responsibilities included interviewing celebrities and industry professionals, ideating, editing, and contributing to the design of the magazine.

Zahra then worked at Innerlight media Pvt Ltd. as a sub-editor and correspondent, where they wrote articles, feature stories, and conducted interviews. Zahra joined Times Internet in 2013 as a senior features writer for iDiva.com. Their role involved content creation for food and parenting sections, maintaining relations with industry professionals, attending events, and visiting restaurants for food reviews.

Zahra Motorwala Kothari has a diverse education history that spans various fields of study. In 1993, they completed their ICSE degree at Christ Church School, Byculla. Following that, from 2006 to 2008, they pursued a degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences/Liberal Studies at JAI HIND COLLEGE, Mumbai. In 2008, Zahra enrolled at Sophia College, Mumbai, where they obtained a Bachelor's degree in Mass Media, specializing in Journalism, in 2011.

In 2016, Zahra earned an Advanced Diploma in Digital Media Marketing from Softpro DMTI Ltd. Zahra then furthered their education by completing a Post Graduate Diploma in Digital Marketing & Communications, with a focus on Digital Communication and Media/Multimedia, at upGrad.com from 2019 to 2020.

In addition to their formal education, Zahra has also obtained several certifications to enhance their skills. In July 2022, they completed the Content Marketing Masterclass through Udemy and also obtained a certification in Technical Writing: Quick Start Guides from Linkedin Learning.
