Joanna Bakyaita

Vice President Communications at African Impact Initiative

Joanna Bakyaita has work experience in various organizations and roles. Joanna has been a Program Assistant for Black Student Engagement at the University of Toronto Scarborough since October 2021. In this role, they assist with planning and implementing community-building initiatives, proposes events for Black-Identifying students, and conducts outreach strategies.

Joanna also has experience at the African Impact Initiative, where they served as Vice President of Communications starting in May 2022. Prior to this, they were a Graphics and Media Coordinator from May 2021 to May 2022.

Additionally, Joanna worked as a Student Mentor at Find Your Path in August 2022. In this role, they facilitated the academic engagement of high school mentees during the Afrocentric Summer Mentorship and Enrichment Program, demonstrating leadership, patience, and communication skills.

Joanna Bakyaita attended the University of Toronto from 2019 to 2023, where they pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree in International/Global Development Studies and Human Geography.
