Deborah South

Vice President Exploration at Aker Energy

Deborah South has a diverse work experience in the field of exploration and geology. Deborah is currently serving as the Vice President of Exploration at Aker Energy AS since August 2021. Prior to this, they held the same role from August 2019 to June 2020. Deborah has also worked as a University Lecturer in Geology at the University of South-Eastern Norway from August 2018 to November 2018. Deborah has teaching experience as a Middle School Science Teacher at Oslo kommune from August 2016 to June 2018. Earlier in their career, Deborah worked at Statoil as an Exploration Manager in various locations including the Caspian Sea, Indonesia, and the Caribbean. Deborah also held the position of Lead Geologist in the Caribbean Exploration team. Deborah began their career as a Geologist at Chevron and later worked as a Sedimentologist at Statoil.

Deborah South attended the University of Bergen (UiB) from 1988 to 1994, where they obtained a Cand scient. degree with a focus on Sedimentology - Petroleum Geology. Deborah later pursued a Post Graduate Certificate in Education in Elementary Education and Teaching at the University of South-Eastern Norway.
