Role Summary

We are seeking a Product and Regulatory Counsel to join Akoya’s Legal Team. This role is a great opportunity to support Akoya’s business by providing legal counsel on a broad range of issues related to Akoya’s products and services. The role will allow for the opportunity to assist on a variety of strategic initiatives involving new product and feature development, launching new marketing campaigns and the impact of new areas of law and regulation. The role will report to the General Counsel and be based either in Boston, New York, or Raleigh/Durham areas.

About The Role

In this opportunity as Product and Regulatory Counsel, you will:

  • Provide risk-based legal, regulatory, and strategic advice across Akoya’s Product, Growth, Customer, Marketing, and Technology teams on all aspects of the product lifecycle across Akoya’s products and services, including identifying legal and business reputation risks.
  • Review and advise on marketing campaigns and product and sales communication strategies, including reviewing marketing assets and updates across Akoya’s digital properties. 
  • Support, establish, and maintain commercial and compliance best practices by keeping up to date on relevant legal and regulatory developments.
  • Provide guidance on product partnerships and integrations in connection with strategic partnership and co-development arrangements.
  • Participate in the drafting and negotiation of complex commercial agreements, establish thoughtful standards (e.g., SLAs) based on regulatory requirements, industry standards, and market norms.
  • Develop and maintain training materials and other legal resources for use by company personnel.
  • Manage projects independently, effectively, and collaboratively.
  • Build positive and influential relationships with Akoya leadership, cross-functional partners, and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with and support the General Counsel and the rest of the Legal team to analyze, assess, and communicate legal risks, develop creative solutions, enhance processes, and drive efficiencies to support business priorities in an evolving regulatory landscape and industry.

About You

You’re a fit for the role of Product & Regulatory Counsel, if you have:

  • Law degree (or equivalent/conversion) and current practicing lawyer (current bar admission/practicing certificate).
  • 5+ years’ experience in a large firm and/or corporate setting specializing in providing counsel on product matters, consumer financial services and/or technology transactions. Prior in-house experience a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and highly collaborative approach to working with business leaders, cross-functional partners, and the rest of the Legal team, with strong ability to build relationships, gain credibility, and partner with others.
  • Familiarity with consumer financial services laws and regulations, advertising laws and regulations, and intellectual property law.
  • Experience negotiating complex commercial transactions and consumer-facing disclosures and terms related to consumer financial services.
  • Proven ability to proactively, efficiently, independently, and accurately assess and manage legal risks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to build and scale internal processes, documentation, and systems.
  • Enthusiasm for Akoya and its mission.
