Michael Tompkins

Michael Tompkins has extensive experience in business intelligence and data engineering roles within the healthcare industry. Michael has worked at various companies, starting with Texas Health Care in 2013 as a NextGen EHR System Administrator, where they provided IT support, managed access and scheduling for Crystal Report, and developed reporting functions.

In 2013, they joined LHP Hospital Group as an IT Support Analyst and Team Lead, where they troubleshooted errors and workflows for various applications, monitored HL7 interface engines, and managed application upgrades and enhancements.

In 2015, they moved to BSA Health System as a Physician Practice/Clinical Analyst, overseeing application upgrades and enhancements, troubleshooting and managing clinical/ambulatory applications.

Michael then joined Ardent Health Services in 2016 as a Senior Epic OpTime Analyst, conducting builds, implementations, and technical support for Epic Optime/Anesthesia, and serving as the application reporting lead. Michael later transitioned to a Senior Epic Business Intelligence Developer role, where they developed and maintained SQL/Epic extracts and various reports.

In 2019, Michael joined Micro Technologies, an AmerisourceBergen Company, as a Senior Business Intelligence Developer, designing and maintaining Microsoft Power BI reports and row-level security.

From 2020 to 2021, they worked at VigiLanz as a Business Intelligence Developer, developing SQL queries for operational and analytical reports for healthcare clients using various EMR systems.

In 2021, they joined CHRISTUS Health as an Information Technology Developer, where they developed and maintained various reports utilizing clinical data.

Currently, Michael is working at Alameda Health System as the Manager of Business Intelligence, prioritzing work items and projects for a team of six developers, assisting with escalations and blocks, and mentoring team members on knowledge needs and new processes. Michael previously held the role of Business Intelligence Team Lead at the same company.

Michael Tompkins earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Software Development from WGU Texas, completing their education from 2015 to 2020. Additionally, they obtained several certifications, including Beaker Data Model Certification, Clinical Data Model Certification, Caboodle Certification, Clarity Certification, Cogito Certification, CompTIA Project+, and OpTime Certification, all acquired between August 2016 and October 2018.
