AlayaCare are seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a team of engineers in the development and maintenance of features in our flagship SaaS application.  Committed to attaining and exceeding high levels of user satisfaction.

About the role 

 

As an Engineering Manager, you will have the opportunity to cultivate a strong team identity and support team members with personalised mentoring. We are looking for a strong technical leader and self-starter who has experience leading a high performing Engineering team within the SaaS sector, ideally in an industry similar/adjacent to ours. Reporting into our Senior Director of Engineering (based in Canada), this role will allow you to be an integral part of a team dedicated to product development, with engineering hubs in Canada and Australia.  

 

More specifically, you will be completing tasks such as: 

 

  • Coach and motivate a team of developers and quality specialists, meeting their aspirations and setting measurable performance targets to foster a high-performing environment.  
  • Be accountable for delivering on commitments and business results. Set direction and operational model for the team by anticipating strategic challenges and business opportunities 
  • Work in collaboration with the Product Management team to translate business objectivesand customer requirements into software delivery activities. 
  • Work alongside the Product Management team to develop quarterly delivery plans and enable the team to achieve these with high predictability. 
  • Continuously define, prioritise, and execute technical initiatives to improve the reliability of systems managed by the team. 
  • Participate in architectural/technical design activities,code reviews(without being the senior technologist) and incident reviews,using themas opportunities to foster technical and process excellence. 
  • Collaborate effectively with other teams and disciplines to solve interconnected problems and to ensure customer satisfaction. 
  • Lead performance management and impact assessments as required for direct reports. Be accountable for the team(s)’s health and productivity. 
  • Continually monitor industry trends. Establish, rollout, monitor, and continuously improve the technical and operational standards and best practices for the team. 
  • Maintain a professional network and leverage it to recruit the top talent. Assisting in the recruitment of team members and leading interviews. Establishing and executing an impactful onboarding process for new team members. 

 

What we're looking for in an Engineering Manager; 

 

  • Acompleteddegree ina computer-related fieldand/ordemonstratedlearningexperience 
  • 3+ yearsof people management experience in a technical industry, including strongcross-functionalleadership and organisational skills 
  • Prior experience in having led a development team in the SaaS industry 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with an ability to express technical and business conceptsin approachable terms 
  • Strong knowledgeof contemporary software development practices, and opinions onhow to best deploy them
  • Experience solutioning with API-based systems 

 

It would be a bonus if you also have: 

  • Prior experience in having led a development team in the ANZ Aged Care SaaS industry  
  • Knowledge of and/or exposure to the aged and disability care sector.  
  • Relevant Tertiary qualifications (Health, IT, Business or related discipline).
