Alberta Securities Commission
Dr. Ryan Clements serves as Director of Advanced Research and Knowledge Management and consultant at the Alberta Securities Commission since March 2019, and is involved with the New Economy Advisory Committee. Dr. Clements is an adjunct professor at the University of Calgary Faculty of Law, teaching courses in Securities Law and Fintech Law & Policy, and holds the position of Assistant Professor, Chair in Business Law and Regulation. Additionally, Dr. Clements chairs the CSA Financial Innovation Hub and is a member of the inaugural CSA Investor Advisory Panel. Previous roles include nonresident fellow at the Global Financial Markets Center at Duke University School of Law and committee member for the IIROC Crypto Asset Working Group. Dr. Clements holds a Doctor of Juridical Science (SJD) from Duke University School of Law, a Master of Laws (LLM) in Corporate Law, and a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) with distinction from the University of Alberta, among other academic qualifications.

It is entrusted to foster a fair and efficient capital market in Alberta and to protect investors. As a member of the Canadian Securities Administrators, the ASC works to improve, coordinate and harmonize the regulation of Canada's capital markets.
