Alfredo Cantoral

Alfredo Cantoral has a diverse work experience spanning different industries and roles. Alfredo currently holds the position of Vice President, Associate General Counsel, and Head of Legal - Investments at American Equity, where they began in April 2021. Prior to this, Alfredo served as a Board Trustee for the American College of Investment Counsel starting in October 2019.

From September 2016 to April 2021, Alfredo worked at PPM America, Inc. as Vice President and Senior Counsel. In this role, they specialized in various legal matters including investment advisers' Act issues, securities regulation, fund formation, tax strategy, infrastructure investments, securitizations, structured finance, private debt, private equity, and commercial real estate. Alfredo was also responsible for managing the firm's litigation matters.

Before joining PPM America, Inc., Alfredo worked as a Senior In-House Attorney for Allstate's investment division from August 2011 to September 2016. Alfredo'sresponsibilities included advising business clients on transactions, compliance matters, regulatory developments, corporate governance procedures, and general corporate matters. Alfredo also supervised and developed junior lawyers and staff members, as well as engaged outside counsel.

Alfredo has also held positions in various board memberships throughout their career. Alfredo was a Board Member of the Marquette University College of Business Alumni Association, where they served on the Finance and Awards Committees from 2011 to 2016. Additionally, they served as a Board Member for Centro Legal from 2010 to 2015, an organization providing affordable legal services to low-income individuals in Milwaukee County.

Other notable experiences include working as an Attorney at Whyte Hirschboeck Dudek S.C. from October 2009 to June 2011, representing clients in corporate transactions, bankruptcy proceedings, workouts, and distressed asset sales. Alfredo also worked as a Summer Associate at Whyte, Hirschboeck, Dudek, S.C. for two summers, gaining exposure to various areas of the firm's practice.

Prior to their legal career, Alfredo worked as a Sales Manager at Verizon Business/MCI from January 2004 to May 2007, leading a team focused on selling and implementing IT products and services to Fortune 500 accounts. Alfredo also served as a Legislative Assistant to then-County Executive Scott Walker at Milwaukee County in 2002-2003, where they assisted in developing policy positions, drafting legislation, and handling media relations and community involvement.
