Tina Wong has extensive work experience in various roles in the United States Department of State. Tina began their career in 2004 as a Legislative Intern at the Coalition for Children, followed by a role as a Staff Associate for Communications at the Citizens' Committee for Children of New York, Inc. In 2008, they worked as a Youth Specialist at the Instituto Jalisciense de la Juventud and as a Business Development Analyst at the InterMedia Survey Institute.
In 2009, Tina joined the Inter American Development Bank as a Labor Markets Research Intern, where they evaluated loans for labor training and education in Panama, Mexico, and Bolivia. Later that year, they joined the U.S. Department of State and held various positions, including Coordinator for the Energy and Climate Partnership of the Americas and Deputy Fraud Prevention Manager/Consular Officer.
Tina's roles at the U.S. Department of State involved managing crises affecting the safety of Americans overseas, analyzing COVID-19 related trade restrictions, and coordinating strategic plans on U.S. government engagement with Allies. In 2022, they became a Regional Economic Officer for South Central European Affairs. Tina is currently serving as the Vice President of the State Department at the American Foreign Service Association.
Tina Wong attended the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) from 2008 to 2010, where they obtained a Master's degree in International Economics and Latin American Studies. Prior to that, they completed their undergraduate education at Wesleyan University, majoring in Government and East Asian Studies.
