Layli S. Whyte-Oliver

Project Specialist at American Institutes for Research

Layli S. Whyte-Oliver is a Project Specialist at the American Institutes for Research, starting in May 2020. Prior to this role, they worked at Maher & Maher as a Project Manager/Senior Analyst from March 2015 to May 2020. During their time at Maher & Maher, Layli successfully managed and completed multiple projects for the National Office of Apprenticeship at the US Department of Labor, totaling over $5 million in contract dollars. Layli S. also played a key role in submitting two successful proposals, bringing in up to $10 million in new contracts. Layli directed the development of the Apprenticeship Toolkit.

Before Maher & Maher, Layli worked at the New Jersey Department of Labor & Workforce Development as a Senior Public Information Assistant from January 2012 to March 2015. Prior to that, they were the Director of Communications at the State of New Jersey - District 12 from February 2009 to January 2012. In this role, they were responsible for managing all written projects, organizing public events, and tracking media coverage.

Layli also has experience as a Teacher at Brno English Centre from August 2007 to June 2008 and as a Staff Writer at Greater Media News from April 2004 to May 2007.

Layli S. Whyte-Oliver obtained their Bachelor of Arts degree in English Language and Literature from Rutgers University from 2000 to 2003. Following this, they pursued a Master of Legal Studies degree at Washington University in St. Louis from 2023 to 2025. In addition to their formal education, Layli also obtained several certifications including Six Sigma - Green Belt from the New Jersey Institute of Technology in February 2013, Project Management from the same institution in April 2012, and Teacher of English as a Foreign Language from Oxford Seminars in January 2007.
