Nicole Barnes, PhD has a range of experience in the field of education and psychology. Nicole currently holds the position of Senior Director at the American Psychological Association, specifically working in the field of Schools and Education. In this role, they are responsible for implementing psychological science in educational settings and promoting the practice of psychology in the national agenda on pre-collegiate education. Nicole also serves as a liaison with various educational and scientific societies, federal agencies, and the general public. Prior to their current position, Dr. Barnes held several teaching positions at Montclair State University, starting as an Assistant Professor in 2010, then advancing to the role of Associate Professor, and eventually becoming a Full Professor. Their research and teaching focus on the process of classroom assessment and its role in informing teaching and learning decisions for students.
