Jeff Hammond

Director Of Project Development at Apex Clean Energy

Jeff Hammond has a diverse work experience in various industries. Jeff started their career as a Commissioned Officer in the U.S. Coast Guard in 1982 and served until 1998, during which they held the position of Deputy Group Commander in Portland, ME from 1995 to 1998. After leaving the Coast Guard, Jeff worked as the Regional Manager for the USCG National Pollution Funds Center, where they supervised financial support for oil and hazardous chemical spill responses in the Gulf Coast and Central United States. During this time, they supported 18 field units involved in over 700 spill responses. In 2001, Jeff joined the U.S. Coast Guard once again, this time as the Group Commander in Buffalo, NY. In this role, they were responsible for law enforcement, homeland security, and search and rescue along the US/CA border of the Eastern Great Lakes. Jeff led 12 sub-units with a total of 318 personnel and 33 boats. Jeff then transitioned to the private sector and worked as the Principal of Business Development at Ecology and Environment, Inc. from 2006 to 2015. Jeff later became a Senior Development Manager at Tradewind Energy, Inc., where they focused on utility-scale wind, solar, and storage project development across the U.S. Jeff's most recent position is the Director of Project Development at Apex Clean Energy, which they started in 2020.

Jeff Hammond attended Messalonskee High School for their secondary education. After completing high school, they enrolled at the US Coast Guard Academy, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Government. Following their undergraduate studies, Jeff pursued higher education at William & Mary – Raymond A. Mason School of Business, where they earned a Master of Business Administration degree.
