Ronen Cohen

VP of Technology at Apex Semiconductor

Ronen Cohen has over 25 years of work experience in the semiconductor industry. Ronen began their career at Intel Corporation in 1995 as a Senior IC Layout Consultant. In 1997, they moved to SGI as a Senior IC Layout Consultant, where they were responsible for ALU floor plan and layout, block integration, and PDV clean takeout quality block delivery. Ronen then moved to Advanced Micro Devices in 1999 as a Senior IC Layout Consultant, where they were responsible for custom macro floor plan and layout and PDV clean block delivery. In 2004, they moved to Sun Microsystems as a Senior IC Layout Consultant and was responsible for IO custom cell floor planning and detailed layout, IO slice floor planning and routing, and PDV clean takeout quality layout delivery. In 2006, they moved to Montalvo Computer Systems as a Chip Layout Integrator, where they were responsible for large processor chip integration, clock routing and balancing, and bump planning and wiring. In 2008, they moved to Redback Networks as a Senior ASIC Engineer, where they were responsible for network large chip integration, datapath pre-route implementation scripts, and full chip routing. In 2017, they moved to Ampere as a Layout and Integration Director, where they were responsible for custom digital and mix signal layout manager, chip level layout floorplan and integration, and custom clocking flow. Ronen is currently at Apex Semiconductor as the Vice President of Technology, where they are responsible for IC design automation, design backend flows, and software engineering.

Ronen Cohen obtained a Bachelor's degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from The Academic College of Tel-Aviv, Yaffo between 1987 and 1991. Ronen also obtained an Associates degree in EE & Computer Science from Technical EE. school. between 1987 and 1991. Additionally, in October 2022, they obtained a Functional Safety Practitioner (FSP) - Application of ISO 26262 to automotive semiconductors certification from exida.
