Amin Alibakhshi

Senior Scientist, System Integration at Apton Biosystems

Amin Alibakhshi has extensive work experience in scientific research and development. Starting in 2016, they worked as a Research Scientist in the Physics Department at Northeastern University. During this time, they focused on various projects, including innovating and developing electrically actuatable zero-mode waveguides (ZMWs) for DNA sequencing, developing a method for synthesizing molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) 2D freestanding membranes for DNA sequencing and sensing, and creating alpha-hemolysin nanopore based biosensing assays using DNA hairpins. In 2021, Amin joined Genapsys as a Senior Scientist and Manager, where they oversaw system integration and sequencing development. Amin then moved to Apton Biosystems in 2022, where they currently serve as a Senior Scientist, leading system integration efforts.

Amin Alibakhshi has a strong education history in the field of engineering and fluid dynamics. Amin graduated from Iran University of Science and Technology with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering in 2005. Following this, they pursued a Master of Science in Thermofluids from the same university, completing their studies between 2006 and 2008. Keen to further their knowledge, Amin then moved to Boston University, where they obtained a Doctor of Philosophy - PhD in Microfluidics and Nanofluidics, graduating in 2016.
